NAME
       subyte - General: Writes a byte into user address space

SYNOPSIS
       int subyte(
	       char *user_dest,
	       char byte );

ARGUMENTS
       Specifies  the  address in user space to write the byte.	 Specifies the
       byte to be written.

DESCRIPTION
       The subyte routine copies 1 byte	 from  the  protected  kernel  address
       space to the unprotected user address space.

RETURN VALUES
       Upon  successful completion, subyte returns the value 0 (zero).	Other‐
       wise, it returns a -1, indicating that the user	address	 specified  in
       user_dest could not be accessed.
