1.3    Monitoring a System or Cluster

There are several features in SysMan Station that you can use to monitor a system or cluster.

On Tru64 UNIX, the minimized SysMan Station icon displays a status light for the overall status of the system or cluster. When running directly on a PC, SysMan Station displays its overall status in the Toolbar whether the client window is minmized or not. See the description of the status lights below.

The icons in each View window display the status of the objects they represent. An icon's appearance will change when the status of the object changes. See View window for a description of the object icons.

The Status_Monitor View window provides an easy way to monitor the high-level status of a system or cluster by displaying status lights for each attention group. Every View window, including the Status_Monitor View window, shows how long the system or cluster has been running continuously.

To monitor a system or cluster from the Status_Monitor View window:

  1. Select the attention groups to be monitored. See Using the Status_Monitor View Window to Enable or Disable Monitoring of an Attention Group.
