LPDFILTER(8) Printing with lpdfilter LPDFILTER(8)NAME
lpdfilter - Script collection for printing
lprsetup - Configuration for using lpdfilter
SYNOPSIS
lprsetup [options]
lprsetup -help
DESCRIPTION
lpdfilter is a collection of scripts to be used to print various data
with lpr(1) and lpd(8). To enable this an entry for lpdfilter in
/etc/printcap is required (see printcap(5)). This can be done by using
the script lprsetup or calling YaST2 which its self uses lprsetup to do
this. Such an entry looks like:
lp:\
:cm=lpdfilter drv=bjc600 method=auto color=no:\
:lp=/dev/lp0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp/log:\
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lp/acct:\
:if=/usr/lib/lpdfilter/bin/if:\
:la@:mx#0:\
:tr=:cl:sh:sf@:
EXAMPLES
lprsetup -add lp -lprng -driver bjc600 -auto \
-size a4 -dpi 360 -device /dev/lp0
lprsetup
The first call of lprsetup configures a printer queue lp with auto
detection of the input (see file(1)), paper media size A4 and resoluā
tion 360 DPI for a printer on the first parallel port usable with the
ghostscript driver (see gs (1)). The second call forces lprsetup to
have a dialog with the caller for the configuration of a printer queue.
