3.9    Storage

The Storage branch of the SysMan Menu lets you manage your systems storage and file systems.

File Systems Management Utility

Allows you to manage the following file systems:

General File System Utilities

Lets you do the following:

  • Dismount a file system

  • Display currently mounted file systems

  • Mount file systems

  • Share local directory (/etc/exports)

  • Share Network directory (/etc/fstab)

Advanced File System AdvFS Utilities

Lets you do the following:

  • Manage an AdvFS domain

  • Manage an AdvFS file

  • Defragment an AdvFS domain

  • Create an AdvFS domain

  • Create an AdvFS file

  • Recover files from an AdvFS domain

  • Repair an AdvFS domain

UNIX File System UFS Utilities

Creates a new UNIX file system.

Logical Storage Management ( LSM) Administration

Allows you to initialize and administer LSM.

Initialize the Logical Storage Manager (LSM)

Initializes the Logical Storage Management.

Logical Storage Manager (LSM) Administrator

Maintains tools for LSM administration.

Bootable Tape

Creates a standalone, bootable tape that contains the operating system and file systems that you specify. After creating the standalone bootable kernel, you can install the customized operating system using btextract.

Identify SAN Appliances

Creates a list of Storage Area Network (SAN) appliances that will be accessible through the SysMan Station. Create this list by specifying the fully qualified host names of the SAN appliances and assigning user-defined names to them. Once the SAN Appliances are identified and the SysMan Station daemon is restarted(for additional information, see the smsd(8) reference page), SysMan Station adds the list of appliances to its Storage Management Tools menu.
