BCM50P(4) BSD Programmer's Manual BCM50P(4)

NAME
BCM50P - Physical layer (PHY) driver for Broadcomm BCM5000 PHYceiver

SYNOPSIS
     bcm50p* at eb? phy ?

DESCRIPTION
The bcm50p driver supports the Broadcomm BCM5000 device (PHY) for 10baseT
and 100baseT4 Ethernet. This device driver is called upon by network de-
vice drivers; no direct administrative control is provided.

The ifconfig(8) command in conjunction with the device driver making us-
ing of this drivers services provides an administrative interface that
allows various physical level parameters (such as duplex, speed, and
     loopback) to be controlled.

SEE ALSO
     ifconfig(8), eb(4)

BUGS
The BCM5000 supports automatic speed detection, but does not support Nway
negotiation. Therefore, 'media auto' only yields 10baseT, not 10baseT-
FDX, if automatic media selection is chosen and 100baseT4 isn't avail-
     able.

100baseT4 does not support full-duplex operation.
