ADDGROUP/RMGROUP(8) BSD System Manager's Manual ADDGROUP/RMGROUP(8)NAME
addgroup, rmgroup - add or delete groups from the system
SYNOPSISaddgroup [-vd] [-g gid] [-m members] [groupname...]
rmgroup [-v] [groupname...]
DESCRIPTION
The addgroup program adds or deletes groups from the system group file,
group(5). When no arguments are provided, addgroup or rmgroup interac-
tively prompt the user for any necessary information. If all necessary
information for creating or deleting the group is provided on the command
line, the user will not be prompted at all.
The -v flag causes addgroup or rmgroup to display more information about
what it is doing.
addgroup-d is synonymous with rmgroup.
The -m flag to addgroup can be used to specify initial members for the
group. The -g argument to addgroup may be used to specify the group ID
chosen for the new group. If it is not specified, the next unused group
ID greater than 100 will be used.
