SysMan Menu is used by the system administrator to obtain system management data and run selected system management tasks. SysMan Menu provides a menu of system management tasks in a tree type display, with 'branches' of management categories and 'leaves' of actual tasks. Selecting a leaf will invoke a task, which displays a dialog for performing the task.
SysMan Menu can be run on an
X Windows
display, on a character cell terminal, and from
a Web browser.

The Compaq Insight Manager daemon (insightd) must be executing if you want to run SysMan Menu from a
browser.
You must be root or have the appropriate privileges to perform some of the tasks available on the SysMan Menu.
Use SysMan Menu to:
Obtain system management data
Perform system management tasks available on the SysMan Menu
There are several ways to open the SysMan Menu.
To open SysMan Menu from the CDE desktop:
Log in as root.
Select the Application Manager from the CDE front panel.
Select the System_Admin Software Management Group.
Select the SysMan Menu icon.
To open SysMan Menu from the front panel, select the SysMan Menu icon from the pop up menu.
To open SysMan Menu from the command line, enter:
sysman.

Additionally, you can run a task directly by way of the SysMan Menu
by specifying the task's name or its management category (the task accelerator).
Use the
-list
option of the
sysman
command or see the
Options dialog box
for a list of task accelerators.
To run a task using its task name, enter
sysman -menu
and its task name on the command line; use double quote characters if the
task name is more than one word.
For example, to run the
Install
Software
task, enter
sysman -menu "Install Software"
To run a task using its task accelerator, enter
sysman
and its accelerator on the command line.
For example, to run the Install Software
task (whose accelerator is
setldload), enter
sysman setldload
NOTE: If a task is selected, the initial dialog box for that task will open, not the SysMan Menu.
In the SysMan Menu main window, choose Exit.
