  • Halt the system and bring it down to console mode

  • Reboot the system

  • Shut down the system to single-user mode

  • Invoke a preshutdown script just before a shutdown begins

  • Execute a run level transition script before halting or rebooting the system

  • Perform a fast shutdown, which skips the file checking phase during reboot

  • Perform a shutdown without disk synchronization

  • Perform a message-only shutdown to just send a message to all logged-in users without shutting down the system

Quick Setup

Use Quick Setup to set up your system as a client system. After you enter all the information Quick Setup needs, your system will have the basic configuration it needs to get it up and running, including network connection, mail, and print capabilities.

Use Quick Setup from the system console, particularly for network configuration; changing the configuration may break the network connection.

For additional information, see Quick Setup Help.

Cloning setup information

Display information about the SysMan cloning feature. A system's setup can be saved for cloning other systems or a system's setup can be cloned from another systems information. Cloning is provided for common services like network connectivity, DNS (BIND), NFS, NIS, NTP, E-mail, and printers. Use sysman -clone -save <filename> to save a system's setup information. Use sysman -clone -apply <filename> to clone a system from another system's information. You also can list and validate cloning information before applying it by using sysman -clone -validate <filename>.
