Applications invoked from the SysMan Menu or from the SysMan Station offer several features for viewing data when presented in a Multi-Column list. These features allow you to sort data, change the width of columns, and expose hidden columns.

These features perform regardless whether the environment is a Browser, X11-compliant windowing environment, or a character cell terminal.

Browser and X11-compliant windowing environment

Sorting Data

The headings of a Multi-Column list are selectable. Selecting a heading sorts and redraws the list, based on the column chosen. Selecting the same heading a second time reverses the sort.

Changing the column width

The column width can be made wider or narrower by moving the mouse pointer until it changes from a single arrow point up and to the left to a double arrow pointing left and right. Next select and drag to the left or right; the movement changes the sizes of the adjacent columns. Columns cannot be narrower than their default minimum size or wider than their default maximum size.

Sorting Data

The headings of a Multi-Column list are selectable. Placing the cursor in a column heading and pressing the space bar sorts and redraws the list, based on the column chosen. Pressing the space bar a second time reverses the sort.

Selecting an item in the list

Pressing the space bar while the cursor is on a list item selects that item.

Changing the column width

The column width can be made wider or narrower by using the plus (+) or minus (-) keys. Pressing the plus key expands the column width by one character; pressing the minus key decreases the column width by one character. Columns cannot be narrower than their default minimum size or wider than their default maximum size.

The widening of a column may affect the visibility of another. Using the Tab key to proceed to such a column adjusts the Multi-Column list.
