So, you've decided to play a character here at New Reno RPG? Great! We'd love to have you. Below are a few things you might want to check out. You probably have a bunch of questions, and the F.A.Q. section might help you out. You might want to check out the rules for the board, but I'll save you a trip (since there are only two rules). Don't be a dick, and please, no advertising.
First, get familiar with the city of New Reno. Check out the basic description of New Reno on the main page of the site.
After that, the section of the site called the setting might help to give you an idea of what the backround for your character might be.
Now that you have an idea of what New Reno is all about, you'll want to register a character. Before you do that, however, it's highly reccomended that you get to know what the Stats, Skills and Specialties are all about.
So are you ready to register a character? Good. You can do it here. You might want to check out a few other character sheets to get an idea of what they look like.
Now that you've sent in your character sheet, it will be updated automatically. Log in with your character name and the password you provided, and you can check out the shops and the skills. By now you've probably noticed that you need skill EXP to purchase skills. How do you get that? Well, check out the duel rules and the quest rules to find out! Also, the experience chart will give you an idea of how much you need to work to become the badass you envisioned your character as.
Anyway, thanks for deciding to play here at New Reno RPG. If you have any unanswered questions, you might be able to find some help in the chatroom (#Vault_13 and #New_Reno on the server irc.darkmyst.org; port 6667) or you could send a private message to one of the staff members. The GMs are always happy to help, especially a new player.
If you don't know how to get to the chatroom, click here for a basic guide to using IRC (which is required to get to the chat room). You can also click on Chat Room at the left to connect using our Java IRC client, which connects to IRC right in your web browser. (Note that to continue browsing the website while using the Java IRC, you will have to open a new web browser and navigate to the site again). You will also have to type /nick Nickname to change your nickname from the default. Then you can type /join #vault_13 to join our OOC room.
Thanks again, and welcome to New Reno!
