I doubt polls support enough options for every country, so let's start by seeing the distribution of continents represented by Polarhome members. _________________ David "papa" Meyer Takarazuka, Japan
- Chitchat :: Holiday season greetings

In the spirit of promoting idle chit-chat among Polarhome members, here's wishing a belated happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, and an even more belated happy Thanksgiving to my fellow North Americans in Canada.
Here in Japan it takes a little more work to gather all the ingredients, but we celebrated Thanksgiving with a traditional roast turkey, bread dressing, mashed potatoes, green peas, cranberry (with blueberry, couldn't find the normal stuff this year) jam, and pecan pie dinner. Nine family and friends gathered around the table. Dishes clean-up took until 2 a.m.
Now, since today is the beginning of Advent, we get to get out our Christmas tree.
Happy holidays.

Thanks. It will be useful to have HTTPS access working.

Looks like Apache isn't listening on that port at all.
Shall look into it.

Hi David,
I too agree with what you're saying and it would even be nice if more of the thousands of users chatted on here.
Best Regards,
Sjaz.

Polarhome is a great service. Many thanks to Zoli.
Wouldn't it be nice if the Polarhome community were more active, and the forum in particular?
To introduce myself, my name is David Meyer. I'm a 45-year-old IT manager living in Takarazuka (near Osaka), Japan. I'm a US citizen but have resided in Japan for the last 17 years.
Frustrated with my day job, but dream of programming. That's what inspired me to sign-up for Polarhome, which I did a few months ago. Just now starting to explore. Plans include setting up a Gopher server and a cross-compiler for my Sharp Zaurus Linux-based PDA.
I'm happily married and have five children, therefore the alias papa.
Be seeing you.

I'm still on Thunderbird 0.3! Wow, embarrassing.
Anyway, based on my back-level-but-functional Thunderbird configuration, I think you need to set the port to 756 and the user name under "Security and Authentication" to halal@mail.polarhome.com. There should be a place somewhere else to enter your e-mail address halal@debian.polarhome.com.

Trying to access my debian web site via HTTPS/SSL at <https://www.polarhome.com:754/~papa> returns an error page:
(Works fine with plain HTTP: <http://www.polarhome.com:753/~papa/>.)
Is the SSL certificate on debian not set up correctly?
