World Wide Web pages or documents are created using HTML (HyperText Markup Language) which is a subset of SGML. HTML documents are ASCII formatted files which may be created using any text editor. The browser (in this case Mosaic) takes care of rendering the HTML document and displaying it on the screen.
HTML allows you to create hyperlinks - regions of text (or images) which when selected (by clicking on the region), will display a new page. For example, you could click here to reload the sample home page. Hyperlinks allow the user to browse through various related informational topics.
Once a hyperlink has been accessed, the Navigate menu may also be used to work your way back through previously viewed pages. For example, to return to the sample home page, you may choose Navigate ... Back.
