Sys Files, [SYSUPD]

    This directory, known by the logical name SYS$UPDATE, contains
    files used to apply system updates.

  1 - AUTOGEN.COM

    Command procedure to calculate parameter values and system file
    sizes

  2 - BIRTHS.MSGHLP

    File used to update the Help Message database.

  3 - BOOTUPD.COM

    Command procedure to update bootstrap file on console diskette

  4 - CDMSTRBLD.COM

    Command procedure used to build the OpenVMS VAX operating system
    CD-ROM; this file should not be seen on a normal, installed system.

  5 - CONSCOPY.COM

    Command procedure that copies console diskette

  6 - CREATE_IDX.EXE

    Creates VMSKITBLD_IDX

  7 - DEATHS.MSGHLP

    File used to update the Help Message database.

  8 - DEC-VAXVMS-VMS-<version>-6.PCSI$DESCRIPTION

    Allows system managers to register the installed <version> of
    OpenVMS to the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI) utility

  9 - DEC-VAXVMS-VMS-V0703--6.PCSI$DESCRIPTION

    Transition kit used with the PRODUCT REGISTER operation to
    register certain OpenVMS VAX files and directories in the
    POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI) utility database.
    (Note: OpenVMS VAX is not installed by the PCSI utility, but
    certain information must be in the database to allow other
    products to install.)

  10 - DECW$KITBLD.DAT

    A list of files that provide OpenVMS support for DECwindows

  11 - DECW$KITBLD.IDX

    An indexed version of DECW$KITBLD.DAT

  12 - DECW$MKFONTDIR.COM

    DECwindows command procedure to create font directories

  13 - DECW$TAILOR.EXE

    Program that customizes the DECwindows server by adding or
    removing optional subsets

  14 - DECW$TAILOR_ON.TEMPLATE

    Template file for customizing the DECwindows server by adding
    optional subsets

  15 - DISKITBLD.COM

    Command procedure used to build the OpenVMS VAX operating system
    CD-ROM; this file should not be seen on a normal, installed system.

  16 - DXCOPY.COM

    Command procedure that copies files from console diskette and
    restores files to diskette

  17 - INSTALLED_PRDS.COM

    Command procedure to display data for installed products
    associated with *.VMI_DATA files

  18 - KITINSTAL.COM

    The primary installation procedure executed by VMSINSTAL.
    This file is normally deleted when these procedures complete,
    so it is unlikely you will see it on your system.

  19 - LIBDECOMP.COM

    Command procedure to expand libraries shipped in data-reduced
    format

  20 - PCSI$CREATE_ACCOUNT.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language ACCOUNT
    statement, which is used in Product Description files in product kits

  21 - PCSI$CREATE_NETWORK_OBJECT.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language NETWORK OBJECT
    statement, which is used in Product Definition files in product kits

  22 - PCSI$CREATE_RIGHTS_IDENTIFIER.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language RIGHTS
    IDENTIFIER statement, which is used in Product Definition files
    in product kits

  23 - PCSI$DELETE_ACCOUNT.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language ACCOUNT
    statement, which is used in Product Definition files in product kits

  24 - PCSI$DELETE_NETWORK_OBJECT.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language NETWORK OBJECT
    statement, which is used in Product Definition files in product kits

  25 - PCSI$DELETE_RIGHTS_IDENTIFIER.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement the Product Description Language RIGHTS
    IDENTIFIER statement, which is used in Product Definition files
    in product kits

  26 - PCSI$EXTRACT_TLB.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to implement part of the PRODUCT EXTRACT PTF command

  27 - PCSI$REGISTER_PRODUCT.COM

    Command procedure used by the POLYCENTER Software Installation (PCSI)
    utility to register products that were installed using another method
    (such as VMSINSTAL)

  28 - REGISTER_PRIVILEGED_IMAGE.COM

    Command procedure for Image Registry facility

  29 - SETDEFBOO.COM

    Command procedure that sets default boot command file

  30 - SIZE_FILES.COM

    Command procedure used by builders and kitters to estimate kit
    size, installation size, or disk space. This file is normally
    deleted when these procedures complete, so it is unlikely you
    will see it on your system.

  31 - SPKITBLD.COM

    Command procedure to build software product kits

  32 - STABACKIT-TABLE.DAT

    Data file used by STABACKIT.COM

  33 - STABACKIT.COM

    Command procedure that builds standalone BACKUP to media

  34 - SWAPFILES.COM

    Command procedure that creates swapping, paging, and system dump
    files of appropriate size for system being installed

  35 - TAILOR_ON.TEMPLATE

    Template file used in conjunction with VMSTAILOR.EXE to tailor
    files onto a system

  36 - THREADCP.CLD

    Command definition for THREADCP utility

  37 - THREADCP.EXE

    Utility to enable/disable per-image kernel threads features

  38 - UPDATE_CONSOLE.COM

    Command procedure for adding new files to console medium of some
    VAX computers

  39 - UPDKITBLD.COM

    Command procedure used to create OpenVMS upgrade kits;
    this file should not be seen on a normal, installed system.

  40 - UPDKITINSTAL.COM

    Command procedure used to install OpenVMS upgrade kits;
    this file should not be seen on a normal, installed system.

  41 - VMS$GET_DIST.COM

    This file is used during installation and upgrade procedures.
    It is normally deleted when these procedures complete, so it
    is unlikely you will see it on your system.

  42 - VMS$ROLLING_UPGRADE.COM

    Command procedure used in an OpenVMS VAX rolling upgrade

  43 - VMS$SECUREPWD.COM

    File used during installation and upgrade procedures to ensure
    that system passwords meet certain security criteria

  44 - VMS$SECUREPWD.EXE

    File used during installation and upgrade procedures to ensure
    that system passwords meet certain security criteria

  45 - VMS$SECUREPWD_PRE70.EXE

    File used during installation and upgrade procedures to ensure
    that system passwords meet certain security criteria

  46 - VMS$SYSTEM_IMAGES.COM

    Command procedure that operates on VMS$SYSTEM_IMAGES.IDX to
    generate a new system image data file, VMS$SYSTEM_IMAGES.DATA

  47 - VMSINSTAL.COM

    Command procedure to install EDTCAI and maintenance updates

  48 - VMSINSTAL_LMFGROUPS.COM

    Data file of LMF information used by VMSINSTAL.COM

  49 - VMSKITBLD.COM

    Command procedure that copies and modifies an OpenVMS system disk

  50 - VMSKITBLD.DAT

    List of files on the OpenVMS system disk that drive the
    VMSKITBLD.COM command procedure.

  51 - VMSKITBLD.IDX

    An indexed version of VMSKITBLD.DAT; used by VMSKITBLD.COM and
    VMSTAILOR.EXE to provide and tailor operating system files.

  52 - VMSLICENSE.COM

    Command procedure for registering product authorization keys
    (PAKs)

  53 - VMSOPT.COM

    File used during installation and upgrade procedures.
    It is normally deleted when these procedures complete,
    so it is unlikely you will see it on your system.

  54 - VMSTAILOR.EXE

    Tailoring facility to remove or add operating sytem files

  55 - VMSUPDATE.COM

    System update command procedure

  56 - VMS_VERSION_OVERRIDE.DAT

    File used during installation and upgrade procedures

  57 - VVIEF$DEINSTAL.COM

    Command procedure to load the VAX Vector Instruction Emulation
    facility (VVIEF) at the next system boot and each subsequent
    boot)

  58 - VVIEF$INSTAL.COM

    Command procedure to unload VVIEF at the next system boot)
