TCPIP Services, TELNET, Command Syntax

 *Conan The Librarian (sorry for the slow response - running on an old VAX)

    Use the following rules when you enter a TELNET command line.

    o  Command formats

       With the TELNET command and most of the commands at the TELNET
       prompt, you can use either DCL-style or UNIX style syntax. For
       example, the following two commands produce the same results:

       $ TELNET
       TELNET> SHOW PARAMETERS

       $ TELNET
       TELNET> DISPLAY

    o  Quotation marks

       No quotation marks are required for typing:

       o The TELNET command line, for example:

          $ TELNET CENTRAL

       o The TN3270 command line, for example:

          $ TN3270 CENTRAL

       o Commands at the TELNET prompt, for example:

          TELNET> CONNECT CENTRAL
