^*Conan The Librarian (sorry for the slow response - running on an old VAX)

    The NCS$COMPARE routine compares two strings using the specified
    collating sequence as the comparison basis. The routine indicates
    whether the value of the first string is greater than, less than,
    or equal to the value of the second string.
