Library /sys$common/syshlp/basichelp.hlb Commands, NEW  *Conan The Librarian (sorry for the slow response - running on an old VAX)

  The NEW command clears BASIC memory and lets you assign a name to a  new
  program.  BASIC prompts for a program name if you do not supply one.
