Displaying the Number of New Messages in the Mail Icon

  The Number of New Messages option controls whether Mail
  displays the number of unread messages in the Mail icon.  By
  default, this option is enabled.

  If you do not want Mail to display the number of new
  messages in the Mail icon, disable this option.

  Click on OK or Apply to save the profile settings.  Click on
  Cancel to leave the settings unchanged.
