dispgid Command

Purpose

Displays a list of all valid group names.

Syntax

dispgid

Description

The dispgid command can be used to display a list of all group names on the system (one name per line). There are no parameters for this command. The following files are accessed in read-only mode to retrieve the data:
  • /etc/passwd
  • /etc/group
  • /etc/security/user
  • /etc/security/limits
  • /etc/security/group
  • /etc/security/environ

Exit Status

0
The command completed successfully.
>0
An error occurred.

Examples

  1. To list all the valid groups in the machine enter the dispgid command as follows: 
    dispgid
    The output looks similar to the following: 
    system 
staff 
bin 
sys 
adm 
uucp 
mail 
security 
cron 
printq 
audit 
ecs 
nobody 
usr 
perf
