SAMBA_SETUP(1) SAMBA_SETUP(1)

NAME
samba_setup - Set up HP CIFS Server

SYNOPSIS
       samba_setup

DESCRIPTION
This program is part of the samba(7) suite.

samab_setup is an interactive program to help an administrator
configure their CIFS server for the first time.	samba_setup is meant
to be run only once, before starting Samba for the first time. To
reconfigure CIFS Server after it has already been configured, you
should use the SWAT web configuration tool, or edit the smb.conf file
       by hand.

samab_setup is designed to guide an administrator through the basic
steps to get the CIFS Server confgiured and available to clients. The
information needed to complete this configuration includes what
security level you want the CIFS Server to run with, what name you want
the server to have from the perspective of clients, what domain or
workgroup you want the CIFS Server to be a member of, and possibly the
name of a Domain Controller. samba_setup can help with WINS server
configuration for subnetted networks and LDAP configuration for
       Directory Server access.

samab_setup does not help the administrator add or configure file or
print shares, or set any number of other detailed configuration
variables. samba_setup is only meant to get CIFS Server up and running
on the network, further configuration should be done through the SWAT
web configuration tool, or by manually editing the smb.conf file.
