NAME
     sa - Adaptec AHA-1520/AHA-1522 SCSI host adapter driver

SYNOPSIS
     sa0 at isa? port 0x340 flags 0x000000

DESCRIPTION
     The sa driver is a software interface to the Adaptec AHA-1520 and
     AHA-15422 ISA host adapters for the Small Computer Systems Interface
     (X3.131-1992) bus.	 These cards are built around the Adaptec AIC-6260
     single chip SCSI processor.  Other compatible implementations using this
     processor such as the NEC motherboard and the SoundBlaster 16 are sup-
     ported by this software.  It should be noted that not all implementations
     (such as the SoundBlaster 16) have the BIOS PROMs required in order to
     boot.  The AHA-1522 differs from the AHA-1520 in providing an on-board
     floppy controller that is handled using a standard floppy interface (see
     fd(4)).

     The sa driver is designed to be used as a machine-dependent back end for
     machine-independent SCSI pseudo-devices (see sd(4),  sg(4),  st(4)).

     Booting from a SCSI disk attached to an Adaptec AHA-1520 host adapter is
     done using the generic BIOS boot code.

CONFIGURATION
     There are two possible base port addresses: 0x340 is the standard, and
     0x140 is the alternate address.  Care should be taken to avoid overlaps
     with other devices as 32 consecutive ports are taken up by this device.

BOOT PARAMETERS
     There are now parameters which are configurable from boot(8) with the
     -parm command. Typically these commands would be added to boot.default(5)
     though they can be set at the ``boot:'' prompt.

     Many of the parameters take as an argument one or more target ids. The
     following are permissible arguments to these parameters:
	   t0	     target 0.
	   target0   target 0.
	   t1	     target 1.
	   target1   target 1.
	   t2	     target 2.
	   target2   target 2.
		      .
		      .
		      .

	   t6	     target 6
	   target6   target 6
	   t7	     target 7
	   target7   target 7
	   all	     targets 0 through 7
	   none	     no targets

     The following parameters take a list of target specifiers as an argu-
     ment(s):

	   disconnect
		   These targets are allowed to disconnect. Examples:
		   -parm  sa* disconnect=all #default
		   -parm  sa0 disconnect=all-t1 #all but target 1

	   parity  Check parity from these targets. Examples:
		   -parm  sa* parity=all #default
		   -parm  sa0 parity=all-target2 #all but target 2

	   single_lun
		   For these targets only look at lun 0.
		   -parm  sa* single_lun=none #default
		   -parm  sa* single_lun=all

	   skip_targets
		   These targets will not be probed at boot. Examples:
		   -parm  sa* skip_targets=none #default
		   -parm  sa0 skip_targets=target5 #Don't probe target 5

     The following parameters take a numeric value as an argument:

	   initiator_id
		   Set the initiator id of the adapter to this.
		   -parm  sa* initiator_id=7 #default

	   reset_delay
		   This is used to control the number of seconds of delay
		   which is inserted after the SCSI bus is reset at boot time.
		   -parm  sa* reset_delay=5 #default
		   -parm  sa* reset_delay=1 #1 second reset delay
		   -parm  sa* reset_delay=0 #no delay after reset
