NAME
     rpasswd - modify a user's remote password

SYNOPSIS
     rpasswd user

DESCRIPTION
     The rpasswd utility changes the user's remote password, which is stored
     in the /etc/rpasswd.db database file.  First, if rpasswd is not being run
     by the super user, rpasswd prompts for the current password of user. If
     the current password is correctly typed, a new password is requested.
     The new password must be entered twice to avoid typing errors.

     The new password should be at least six characters long and not purely
     alphabetic.  Its total length must be less than _PASSWORD_LEN (currently
     128 characters).  Numbers, upper case letters and meta characters are en-
     couraged.

     If run by the super user and there currently is no entry in
     /etc/rpasswd.db for user, an entry is added.

     The intended use of the rpasswd authentication type is to allow a server
     which servers passwords to remote systems, such as radiusd(8),  to not
     require the every user on the remote system have an account on the server
     machine as well, but still allow a standard style password authentication
     system.
