HME(4) BSD Programmer's Manual (SPARC Architecture) HME(4)NAMEhme - SPARC ``Happy Meal'' (fast) Ethernet interface
SYNOPSIS
hme* at sbus? slot ? offset ?
nsphy* at hme? phy ?
luphy* at hme? phy ?
DESCRIPTION
The hme interface provides access to the 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet network via
the ``BigMac'' (fast) Ethernet chip (the standard built-in interface on
most V9 UltraSPARC machines).
Each of the host's network addresses is specified at boot time with an
SIOCSIFADDR ioctl. The hme interface employs the address resolution pro-
tocol described in arp(4) to dynamically map between Internet and Ether-
net addresses on the local network.
MEDIA SELECTION
In systems with more than one connector, media selection is performed by
ifconfig(8) keywords.
