egconfig(1M) egconfig(1M)

NAME
egconfig - configure gigabit ethernet interfaces

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/etc/egconfig [-f [0|1]] [-l [0|1]] [-q] interface

DESCRIPTION
egconfig is executed at system startup time to download the firmware for
each gigabit Ethernet (''egN'') interface configured into the system.
After egconfig executes, it is still necessary to use ifconfig(1M) to
configure protocol addresses and other parameters.

egconfig is run automatically at system startup. It is also used to turn
flow control and link negotiation on and off.

OPTIONS
     -f [n]
Sets flow-control's state on the specified interface. Valid options
are 0 (off) or 1 (on). If no value is specified, 0 (off) is
implied. This should only be used when attaching to equipment that
does not support flow-control. The default state for flow-control
is on. This flag can only be used when the card is marked down with
ifconfig(1M) or in /etc/config/egN.options to set flow-control at
	  boot time.

     -l [n]
Sets link-negotiation's state on the specified interface. Valid
options are 0 (off) or 1 (on). If no value is specified, 0 (off) is
implied. This should only be used when attaching to equipment that
does not negotiate correctly. The default state for link-negotiation
	  is on. For LINK_PREF values 0, 1, 2, and 3 (see egcmd(1M)) link-
negotiation will be on no matter what. This flag can only be used
when the card is marked down with ifconfig(1M) or in
/etc/config/egN.options to set link-negotiation at boot time.

-q Queries the current state of flow-control and link-negotiation. The
state returned is only valid for LINK_PREF (see egcmd(1M)) values
where changing these values is valid.
