Digital UNIX Diffs - chown(5) Digital UNIX Diffs - chown(5)

NAME
       chown -	Changes the owner and group IDs of a file

SYNOPSIS
       int chown(
	       const char *path,
	       uid_t owner,
	       gid_t group );

PARAMETERS
       Specifies the name of the file whose owner ID, group ID, or both are to
       be changed. Specifies a numeric value representing the owner ID.
       Specifies a numeric value representing the group ID.

DIFFERENCES
       vms-system(5): OpenVMS Operating System Differences

       The chown(2) function	sets groupID and ownerID of a file. On VMS,
       these values get mapped to the member number and group number in the
       user identification code (UIC). For example, if the OpenVMS owner and
       group parameters were 022 and 313 respectively, the file's UIC is set
       to [313,022].

       vms-files(5): OpenVMS File System Differences

       The syntax of filename path are different on UNIX and OpenVMS.
