acl_from_text(3)					      acl_from_text(3)

NAME
       acl_from_text - Converts the	textual representation of an ACL to an
       internal representation

SYNOPSIS
       #include <sys/acl.h>

       acl_t acl_from_text(
	       char *buf_p );

LIBRARY
       Security Library (libpacl.a)

PARAMETERS
       Points to the text external representation of the ACL to be converted.

DESCRIPTION
       NOTE: This function is based on Draft 13 of the POSIX	P1003.6 stan‐
       dard.

       The acl_from_text() function converts the textual representation of the
       ACL into the working storage internal representation used by the ACL
       subsystem. Working system storage is allocated as required.

RETURN VALUES
       Upon successful completion, the acl_from_text function returns an
       address pointing to the ACL translated. Otherwise, a value of NULL is
       returned and errno is set to indicate the error.

ERRORS
       If any of the following conditions occur, the acl_from_text() function
       sets errno to the corresponding value:

       The argument buf_p cannot be translated into an ACL.	There is not
       enough memory available to the process to allocate the working storage.
